He's been part of the past 2 betas and says this game will revolutionize COMPETITIVE gameplay. The person who told me this regurly finishes in the top 10 for all Unreal tourneys so he knows what he's taking about. How this transfers over to us I don't know, but I'm about to piss myself in excitement now. This guy KNOWS what I like and he said I will fall in love with this game. WoOP! All impressions were well recieved and suggested it is a great game. These people are handy to know. The demo doesn't really give the game in its entirety any credit. I told my girlfriend.. "Just act like I have to be away on a lot of business trips". I hope it works! Hell, if it aint broke don't fix it. It's more than just that. It has more of a UT99 feel to it than any other UT game besides UT99. More or less a balance between UT99 & 2K4. I think Epic did a great job on the engine. The consolish feel to the menus, a lackluster server browser and a lack of easily tweaking the engine from the menus is another story, however. There are some issues like bot ai and some minor net code glitches but nothing too major. With the net code as it stands, I can see people being accused of cheating when in fact they aren't. Taking 3 rockets to the face and living to tell about it. Anyone who has done any net code work in UT knows that everything is calculated server side. There is a slight lag in what gets sent to the server. Example: You're at position 1 and I fire. The client side sends that info to the server and you have moved ever so slightly during that time and then it gets updated and sent back to the client. It causes missed shots or shots that should have killed you have not. Another thing I think is a bit messed up with the game is the damage amounts for the weapons as well as the splash radius. The new redeemer is an awesome looking weapon and should be uber powerful but sometimes it doesn't do the damage that it should.
