Ok here goes... haven't been able to play COD4 with my rig. It's choppy and laggie and generally f*&kup! 
My rig:
ASUS MB
AMD X2 939 4400 (2.2ghz)
2gb Corsair XMS memory
2 7600GTs 256 mb cards- SLI configuration (Latest drivers)
Creative Sound SC
2 WD Raptors
600 watt PS
I checked the options in COD4 and the "dual cards" is checked and everything else is set to "low" detail, 800x640.
I defrag the HDs all the time and????????????????????????WTF?
I've never had trouble playing the other CODs at all!
Any ideas at ALL?

Is is the same in single player,if you have not tried it disconnect from the internet and turn your firewall and antivirus off and see if that helps,just to see if it is something running in the background that the game is not happy with.I am just installing so brb.

It probably won't help but its worth the try.Creative does it automatically for you from their site but the latest driver is about a year old anyway.

Turn water model and lights to low.Normal on cod 4 is actually really high.and turn shadows off you will notice hardly any difference in the looks but it should improve your fps by a lot.

Thanks Ren all that helped. I still get laggie when the aircraft start bombing runs and stuff, but better!

check your running processes. One of my guys was having the same problem. Get the machine down to around 30 processes and that should help. Also, check your spyware firewalls. Sometimes they will block the game packets.
