Computer Help For COD4 |
|
|
Ok I know I dont have the greatest computer but its what I have and could afford right now. My first computer is a EMachine 3.33 ghz pros, 512 ddr2 mem, 128 onboard (I know its shitty) a open AGP slot and 3 PCI slots. My second computer (the one i use for COD2) is a Dell Dem. 2350, 1.86 ghz pros, 1.5 gig mem, does not have a AGP slot and 4 PCI slots. My video card for the Dell is a Radeon 9250 256mb. When I load up Call of Duty 4 demo I get a error message stating: "Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled" now I believe that is a video card issue and all my drivers are up to date. What I am asking from any of you is could any of you give me any advice on what computer I should up grade to play this game or is it even possible for me to upgrade either one. I was thinking about getting this for my Dell http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229 but I really need some advice. I am not the greatest with computers. Please someone help me out. I can't afford a new computer.

I'm guessing by what you are saying here is that you have an AGP slot for older style video card. This card you are showing us is X16 PCI-E, therefor it will not work in either pc you have. You may also have to upgrade your mobo to support this card. Not saying there isn't an AGP card that will support the game. Maybe someone else has some ideas. Just trying to help.

OK by what specs I saw from looking those 2 computers up, that card would work on your Emachine. And if you add at least 1GB more ram to your system you should be able to run it OK.

I had the ATI 9250 in my machine also... Same error on trying to load the demo... The problem is that COD4 needs shader version 2.0 or better, and the 9250 only goes up to I believe 1.0 or something like that... You are going to have to upgrade to a newer card, but you need to find one that is DX10 compatible (shader 2.0+) and will fit in an AGP or PCI slot... Not sure that's going to be possible, since most of the newer cards only run with PCIE... Good luck...

It's been posted around that that card will run COD4 at 1280x1024 at nice settings. Anything above that and it's pushing it. If you can afford the extra $$$ go with an 8800GT. It's a better value for your money and will keep your system in service longer than would be possible with the 8600.
