xmas list.... HK SL8-6 |

I'm looking into an HK SL8-6 (civilian G36) for uh.... the um... neighborhood watch.
looking at this for a Spring-08 purchase, as all the credit cards and student loans will be paid off, and my Carbon-15 pistol can't really reach out an touch someone...if I had to.
anyone have one or know someone who does?

I don't know much about guns.
Not even the ones I use in games. 
Yet I think every one in the USA should be required to take a gun safety and introduction course at least once in school. Maybe even more than once. I also think more people should own guns. And yet I don't own a gun. 
Maybe someday I'll get a 22 rifle with a scope. Assuming a scope would even be worth while on a 22. I just thougth it would be something cheap with cheap ammo that I could use for target shooting. I always thought it sounded like fun. Until then, I'll stick to my deadly but silent compound bow. 
Anyways, what I really wanted to say was that looks like a cool gun. Looks like it would be cool to shoot.

Thats a lot of dough for a .223 weapon. If your going to drop that kind of cash why not get an Steyr Aug replica or even a Colt M4 instead? What makes a G36 great is its buit in sighting system, other than that its just another assult rifle.

but the Steyr is butt-ugly. and no thanks on the M-4. the AR-M4 weapons are a total pain to maintain unless you upgrade everything, and then you're over the amount for this piece.

God, I need to move to America. Stuck in the crappy People's Republic of NJ.
Since buying a G36(civilian or not) is illegal about 20 times over in NJ, my dad bought an AR-15 with a scope for his "reach out and touch somebody" weapon. Excellent weapon, shoots pretty accurate too depending on how good the scope is.

America is the most heavily armed country per civilian in the world, Dont think more ppl really need to own even more guns, is there really a point?
It would be neat to own an Automatic, but i am alright owning my single shot rifle.
I just dont see a point purchasing a gun like that.

Why buy a car that goes faster than the speed limit?
Why buy a computer thats much more powerful than the minimum requirements?
It's always better to have more than less. It's not like we're driving tanks to work every morning. (although, I probably would spring for that if the opportunity was there )

I think you should get a .22, would be a good starter and match rifle. Lots of fun and lots of upgrades if you get a Ruger 10/22.
I think everyone in the States should own a rifle or pistol, then they will understand the responsibility of respect for everyone. More people would be courteous to everyone in the States if they knew anyone out there just might be carrying. I have many rifles and pistols - written in my constitution to defend myself against an evil government - but the truth to the matter is it is an unalienable right given to me by The Great Architect of the Universe, not just written on paper by my government.

Really nice looking rifle, but how much do you really want to spend on a rifle that shoots 5.56? MK12 Mod0 would be my choice I think.

That would be a lot of fun, but getting upgrades for something like this would be either real expensive or unobtainium.

I gots one of these too, they are a blast(semi-auto of course)!!! 400 rounds my first day through this and it didn't misfeed, misfire or anything! It go so hot I couldn't hold it by the wood grips! The thing is awesome, except for the sights, which I'm upgrading to a ghost ring here shortly.

tired of the m16/m4, I want something modern. and a basic MK12 runs $1500, anyway.
