I have problems connecting sometimes.I get an error that reads server connection timed out.When I check the server is still up & running.

That is because cod 4 connection to server times out after 10 seconds,so if the activision server is slow doing its checks you get kicked.But if you put this command into your config file you will or should have plenty of time (thanks cyber) seta cl_connectionAttempts "60" leave the quotes in too.
