Tired of AMD!!!! |
|
|
Ok I've had AMD for ever! I'm tired of the snails pace the AMD DuoCore X2s run at! Multitasking is not their strong point, nor is OCing, cheap is!
Need input on possible new Intel rig....
MB: FoxConn X38A or Mars board or P35AP-S
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6850 (3.0ghz) Conroe
Mem: Curcial Ballistix 2GB DDR2 PC 6400
HDD: WD Raptor 150GB
Cooling: Zalman CNPS9700
Video: EvGa 8800GT 512MB
OS: Windows XP Pro
Supplier: Of course NewEgg!
Well what ya think? I've never owned FoxConn products before...
FoxConn seems to be almost future proof- DDR2/DDR3, support for the upcoming 45nm cpus, PCI-E 2.0.

my gamer is:
msi k8n neo4 platinum
amd 3200+
2 gig supertalent
8800gt, just upgraded from an x800xl
some hitatchi desk star sat drive.
vista ultimate
it ran cod4 better than fine when I had an opteron 185 in it on max everything, but I gave it to someone who needed it more than I for a bit. still with the 3200 it runs ok on default settings, only marginally find myself wanting a new cpu or upgrade.
yours seems better than mine.
have you tried just wiping it out, reformatting, and installing new os, yada yada, new drivers, yada yada...?

I love it.
the few troubles I had were petty and easily fixed.
For me vista is faster, and ootb has all the little tweaks and addons that I
used to spend a lot of time maintaining on xp.
Stable, functional, intuitive, whats not to like?

Yo. I have that same processor (6850 core 2 Duo 3.0). It kicks ass. I have mine overclocked from 3.0 Ghz to 3.31 Ghz with stock cooling. It is perfectly stable! I believe I can go a lot faster too.
