We all pretty well know where I stand... Live and let live, and to each his own... But come to my house to cause harm to my family, and you have earned the right to die... Come to my country to cause harm to my fellow countrymen, and you and your countrymen have earned the right to die...

Then maybe you can kill some brews and ribs.

Sorry Cynic but I dont see it the same way. We as humans are the part of one big collective. We must all coexist to survive as an individual. Example, a man alone in the woods has half the life expectancy as two men working together in the same woods.
Liberty is a conceived notion of boundries created by a certain society. However should that society collaps then those rules no longer apply however the liberty of the whole still does.

Dang this is some deep stuff. Now my head hurts. Thanks. Razz

Dude, you agree with the presentation and don't even realize it. In order for the collective (society) to work, it must be voluntarily entered into by ALL parties. The collective certainly can, and should, implement guidelines to keep scofflaws from violating the rights of others (stealing, murder, etc.), but that doesn't mean that the government should take from those who produce in order to make that happen.

If a man wishes to smoke pot, for instance, and does so in the privacy of his own home, while I think he is an idiot, he hurts no one but himself. However, if that same man gets high, then gets in his car and injures someone because of his altered state, then he should rightly suffer the consequences, as determined by society. We all have the freedom to be stupid and make bad decisions. The rebuke from society comes when you do so and harm others, or violate their rights.

The primary focus of the presentation is the government. The role of government, as envisioned by our founders, was to protect the rights of men in a free society. The role of government is not to "provide" anything for any individual. You see, in order for the government to provide for one, it must first TAKE from another. Please point to the section in the Constitution that says the government should "take care" of us. The one sentence in the Constituion that is always cited by those on the left, as being the reason why the government should be our nanny, is the "...promote the general welfare..." sentence.

I would submit that our founders chose their words carefully during the Constitutional Convention. In fact many months were spent haggling over the words to be used in that document. Therefore I would point out that they believed that the government should "promote" the general welfare, NOT "PROVIDE" IT! When you take from the fruits of one man's labor to give to another, you diminish the desire to continue producing. Look at "progressive income taxes." The more you work, the more money you make, the more government takes from you. Where is the incentive to continue working harder to produce more if the only thing you have to look forward to is seeing more money taken from you?!

In closing this response I would ask that you ruminate on liberty, voluntary, and personal responsibility and determine what those things mean to you. I am willing to suffer the consequences for my poor decisions and hopefully learn from them. I do not need a nanny looking after me. The only time I expect the government to step in is if I have violated another person's liberties. That is the governments proper and only role in a free republic.

The defense of the nation is another topic.

makes me more aware of the cvnts who would deprive me of my life, liberty, and happiness so they could continue the spread of their noxious religious fanaticism.

New life stance: I come to you as a compassionate Human. Work with me to build a better future for ourselves and our children. I am begging you.... I am pleading with you. And if you fuck with me, I will kill you and everyone you know... and move on.
