"Gilligan's Island" Mary Ann Caught With Pot! ( Shocked Shocked Shocked)

DRIGGS, Idaho -- Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island," is serving six months' unsupervised probation after allegedly being caught with marijuana in her car.

She was sentenced Feb. 29 to five days in jail, fined $410.50 and placed on probation after pleading guilty to one count of reckless driving.

Under a plea agreement, three misdemeanor counts — driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance — were dropped.

On Oct. 18, Teton County sheriff's Deputy Joseph Gutierrez arrested Wells as she was driving home from a surprise birthday party that was held for her. According to the sheriff's office report, Gutierrez pulled Wells over after noticing her swerve and repeatedly speed up and slow down. When Gutierrez asked about a marijuana smell, Wells said she'd just given a ride to three hitchhikers and had dropped them off when they began smoking something. Gutierrez found half-smoked joints and two small cases used to store marijuana. (AP)

MaryAnn... didn't you learn anything from the Skipper??? NEVER pick up strangers!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Can ya blame her . She's still adapting to living in a state instead of the care free life style of island life. Remember awhile back ol' Gilligan was hit for the same thing. Crazy islanders.

The doobie started getting puffed, her tiny frame went nuts.
If not for the courage of her hippy friends the doobie could get lost...
the doobie could get lost...

Not so fast. Every hard core doper I have ever contacted said the same thing, "It's only pot, big deal" as they gradually escalated to more potent drugs. Now after a life of being hooked to heroin or speed, their lives are ruined. SO the next time you say "It's only pot, no big deal" think of the many many lives that have been wasted over no big deal. Nothing you can say will ever change my mind after 24 years of working as a cop and seeing how pot has destroyed peoples lives. Because if we take a casual look at pot, then why not try something a little more, then something a little more, it is a never ending story. Guys I went to high school with that only smoked pot, are just flat wasted human beings now. They had great potential to do almost anything and pot stopped them from developing them into normal human beings.

I am serious about this, I have literally seen thousands of lives destroyed by this stuff. I have interviewed thousands of people over the past 24 years who tell me they wish they had never started with pot.

Sorry to complain, but it is my pet peave, when people are so oblivious to the dangers of pot, because it hasn't affected them. I am not belittling you either, I respect your feelings and opinions, but when it is something I know a lot about.

I understand and there are a lot of people like yourself who have never gone on to anything harder, but for every one who has not gone further there are five who have. I tried it when I was a high schooler myself, and I moved on past it thankfully. But I could have been with my friends from high school who are complete loosers now. I am glad you have not had the urge to go on, feel proud of yourself too! Anyway enough of my soap box.

P.S.

Well, now for my two-cents worth. I have never tried drugs of any kind and have never had the desire to. I grew up around them and saw what they did to people and so determined at an early age I wanted no part of it.

Now lest you think I am setting myself up as some paragon of virtue, please allow me to belie that thought. I have had my share of shortcomings, but am happy to say that drugs and alcohol are not part of them. Frankly, and I know I may piss off some people here, I have never understood the attraction of drugs. If you need to alter your mind in order to enjoy yourself, then you have some serious problems in my not so humble opinion.

My high comes from being with good friends and enjoying their company, seeing my children make wise decisions, enjoying a sunset or sunrise, reading a good book, helping a friend in need, holding hands with my wife as we take a walk, the list goes on. You may note that each of the activities I listed does not involve artificially altering my consciousness. I am able to remember what I did and with whom. I suffer no ill-effects and do not have to worry about breaking any laws. My clothes don't smell funny, my eyes don't get red, and I don't get the munchies. I don't do something stupid and then wake up the next day and wonder what I did, or to whom.

I agree with Hogan in that pot is a "gateway" drug. I don't know anyone who started out using crack or heroin. They all started with a "mild" drug. Those of you reading this, who are using drugs of any kind, I would ask you to seriously rethink your attitude toward drugs of any kind. It's never too late to clean up and get lucid. The best joys in life are the one's you can remember.

Just my not-so-humble opinion.

Couldn't agree with you more there cycnic. Besides, my body can't take smoke. I pretty much cough a lung out when I'm around smokers.

Legalize it. The war on drugs has always been a failure. People will always smoke pot. Plus the majority of people who smoke, or smoked pot... never ever moved on to harder drugs. That is a known fact. The argument that pot leads to harder drugs is a myth and is the from the era of propaganda like refer madness etc.

I love pot. Haven't smoked it for years though because it causes people to lose jobs, and not get them. Thats all. To me, it's just a choice. Go to other countries where it is legal, and tell me if they are all screaming for harder drugs, getting in bar brawls.. and causing crime to get the drug. They aren't. They are happy, peaceful, law abiding citizens who live in more happy countries like Denmark. People are pissed and angry and rude in the U.S.

I can give you a thousand reasons why alcohol is worse. The U.S. is full of drunks.

Yes, I had friends that are now dead... heroin, etc... hey, they chose to knock themselves out.

The pot heads that get exploited are the street kids selling it to support their 99c burger habits. I bet your lawyer and doctor smoke it up at home at night before they watch american idol or house on tv.
