They all look good, but one thing I would suggest is two hard drives, not one big one. Get two 250gig drives instead of the one 500gig. That way you have the ability to have a backup strategy that protects you from hard drive failure or virus, or act of god, or whatever. I use Acronis to back up, but I do recommend you use something and back up to a second "physical" hard drive.

Second point.. I would suggest going Intel instead of AMD right now. The current generation of Intel Dual Core CPU's are getting much better ratings and review than the AMD (like the 6400+ in the first config). Not a big deal, I have the AMD 6400+ and it's fast as a scalded cat, but if I had it to do over I might go Intel just now. AMD is struggling a bit to find their way.

Also, others may disagree, but I'm not sure SLI (two graphics cards) buys you much. Not too many games really support it in any significant way, and as far as "bang for the buck" you might be just as well off (and a bit richer) with one 8800 Ultra. If you really want SLI, you might look at the 9800 GX2 instead of two 8800's.

As far as AlienWare - I would stay away from them. Why pay a 15% or more premium just for the name to get the same stuff you can put together from NewEgg or MicroCenter but without the name?

I agree on the SLI point... I have never seen a reason to go with 2 video cards. To me, its like owning 2 homes, but only needing to live in one. Its all for show.

For a quad core processor, AMD is the biggest bang per buck. But Intel makes a better all around ship.

i recommend u go cheap on hard drive and ram ...all will pretty much perform for what u need unless ur just a super picky computer nerd...

i have the amd 6400+ works great can't say id go intel as i have no problems with it

and for sli...no need what so ever if you can run cod4 with settings maxed out and get 125 fps constant that is all u need(always max out to watch u can get all the time to prevent more lag)I have an 8800 gts 320 mb gets all i want done 125 constant in all games plus right now saying it can perform to what it needs just buy one and wait for prices to drop on the video card then pick one up for cheaper

just my 2 cents.

Most of those items I would recommend, except for the GPU and PSU.

First, 1GB of ram on an 8800GT is overkill. Most of the reviews I've read say that the GPU isn't powerful enough to give real world performance gains on 1GB. On the 9800's or the new 200 series there is some benefit. If you're going with the 8800GT, the 512 is sufficient.

As for the PSU, that Rosewell does seem to have some good review ratings, and I would agree for the most part. Seeing as I have a 450W model for the past year and haven't had any issues. Very Happy If I had to do over again, I'd probably go for a Thermaltake or Corsair. [H] has some good reviews for both of these brand. The PSU's on the link below should suffice.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=58&Description=&Type=&N=2000320058&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=100&MaxPrice=200&Manufactory=1379&Manufactory=1459&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A28169&PropertyCodeValue=1314%3A28170

That's 1 cent Very Happy
