I agree, I personally don't trust generic PSU's.
Generic units tend to have cheaper components, fans without ball bearings, ect...
If you pick-up a 1000 watt generic unit and then pick up a good quality one, the weight difference is very noticable.
I don't know the mechanics of a PSU, but I am guessing the generics have more plastic components and less copper than a good quality one.
And I am sure the good quality ones are more reliable, run cooler, and have cleaner power outputs.
Personally I use Thermaltake, but Corsair makes some really nice ones also.
I prefer the modular units too.
Just know that you get what you pay for, so more money will be better quality.
I realize there is a limit on cash to spend, but my point is don’t let $20 hold you back.
Since a PSU can last thru several upgrades to your system, it’s nice to have a good one.
