hey fellas, thought I'd throw this everyone's way. I've been experiencing some intermittent performance and even glitchy issues not only in game play but on day to day stuff as well...
well here is what I've come up with. first of all my gear:

windows 7 Ultimate
x58 Classified EVGA mobo
6 gigs of ram (3 sticks)
an I7 920 stock 2.66 ghz, OC to 4 ghz

I was rummaging around the Resource monitor that can be found from the task manager and realized I have 4 of my 8 threads on my CPU are "parked". With a little reading my understanding is this is intel's way to save power. the unfortunate part is it does in fact provide a glitchy atmosphere when the power is ramped up to these cores when they are needed, or in my case they are never energized leaving me with only half of what I thought I was using. I found a slick little way to force these threads open.

- Go to Regedit
- Select Edit > Find... and find this key: " 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 "
- Within this key, there is a value called: " ValueMax " This value represents the % number of cores the system will park
- Change the value of " ValueMax" to 0 so that, it matches " ValueMin "
- You will have to find the key a few times and repeat the process for each time it is found - the number of instances will depend on the number of power profiles in your system. To do this go back up to Edit > Find Next. (I had 3 instances of this key in my registry.)
- Do a full shutdown and power-off and cold-re-start.


after this Whala. all 8 threads up and cooking at full power. so far so good. i'll need to run this a few weeks to make sure it fixes me up but i'm hopeful. good luck to anybody else experiencing some glitchy stuff with win7
