That you go shoe shopping???
In all honesty, most headsets work about as well as any other set... The big question is comfort... If you wear glasses, avoid the headsets that have the cups on your ears and the support strap behind your head... I had a set like that, and after a few hours of COD2 on Saturday nights, my ears were extremely sore...
The second consideration should be features... Do you want inline mic muting/volume control, or do you handle that with your keyboard... Personally, I prefer the inline controls, even though I have my F12 key set to mute the mic in Vent...
The third consideration is connection... Does your computer have headphone and mic jacks on the front? If so, go with standard, otherwise go with USB...
As for cost, I was actually much happier with a cheap (don't recall the brand) $19 set that I got from Walmart than I was with the $59 Logitech set that my wife bought for me at BestBuy...

If you find one you like let us know. I've been in the market for a new one for quite a while and can't find one I like.

It seems for myself USB ones are better...I guess I am too quiet on vent. I am trying a new one and it seems to work out...will post what it is.

The headset I have now is called HP Premium Digital Headset, I paid about $50 from Walmart, not much selection in a small town. They are comfy and I think people can hear me on vent. It is an USB one. The only issue I have is the way my PC is setup, I keep stepping on the cord....need some duct tape.

I've had my eyes on this one for a while . The reviews are mixed. Sounds like range and comfort are the top pros. but sound quality and most notably the bass seems to be low according to several reviews, but it's only $40 and wireless...

well i got my headset yesterday finally had a chance to plug it up today. the bass which most people talked down on this is actually pretty good. i'm used to only a 30$ pair so this was a major upgrade.
positives 1. padded ear 2. padded head strap 3. mute and volume conveniently placed on the right ear 4. good distance. I can get a refill on my beer and still hear what is going on in vent lol
negatives: 1. non consumer replaceable batteries 2. when changing mute or volume the button clicking in your ear is a bit loud but tolerable
good luck CG on finding yours.

Just a consumer update on my headset. have been running on it for a few months now. still really like it over all the positives are still up there. as for batt. life. they last for an entire game night and then some. not 100% sure on how long as I haven't run them dry but 6-8 hours of constant activity maybe? to add they can be plugged in and run as well. so your not screwed when the batt dies.
over all months later still happy with the purchase would recommend to anyone. only 2 complaints is again the non consumer replaceable batt. i'm sure that will screw me later on. and after wearing them for 3-4 hours they seem to kinda crush my head. just need to loosen up the head band a bit maybe.
good luck and happy gaming all.
