I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my wife's PC and my own. We both have the same monitors with built in speakers. Not sure what I did wrong, but the speakers are not loud enough anymore. They are okay if there are no back ground noises, but with small four children, that is rare. My wife used to like watching Hulu while folding clothes in our bedroom, now she can't hear the sound when not seated in front of the PC. For some reason before the reinstall, the sound use to go a lot louder. So much that I rarely had the volume all the way up.

I also have a headset which uses it's own driver and software, and they sound just as loud as they always did.

Anyone have any ideas of what I need to adjust or some software that would give us a volume boost beyond the sound in control panel? In the past, the sound in control panel is all we ever used to adjust the sound levels, but it isn't enough anymore.

Thanks, Stu

Monitor volume is at 100%
Taskbar speaker volume is at 100%

Only thing I can think of is that the Windows install used newer drivers that just don't have the same output.

You might want to double-click on your output device (speakers in this case I suspect) and take a look at the properties, particularly under "Enhancements". Once thing that can sometimes help is "Loudness Equalization" under there, or the settings under "Advanced".

Thanks for ideas! 8-)

I had already tried adjusting those settings and they didn't help.

The issue is now corrected. I got a free copy of Razer Surround Pro with my Razer Death Adder Chroma gaming mouse. It can be applied to any speakers or headsets. I applied it to my monitor speakers with the stereo option and now they are awesome! Three times louder and much more clearer than ever before. Of course now I will never turn the volume up 100% as that would be too loud, but that is great and much better than too low. ;)

I really think the issue had something to do with old drivers verses new drivers, but I am not completely sure.

I am glad that now they are better than ever. :D
