I saw that you had the PC and were waiting for the video card, so I made a few phone calls to expedite the delivery. Your welcome!

Ok I got the keyboard plugged in and workin. I turned it on and arghhhh it has windows 2000 not xp like I was told. I tried my internet by using google and everything seemed to work. So I found a xp disc and installed it . It works good but I can't get the internet explorer to work for the internet. I have a comcast cable modem so idk if anyone has any sugestions. I'm ordering another hard drive tomorrow cause it only has a 10gb sata drive in it. And my old hd is a 40gb pata. I put it in a enclosure but this puter I just found out doesn't have a high speed usb. So ill get the new hd in and install xp again. Anyone have any ideas on the internet issue. If I cant figure it out ill have to take it to our IT guys and pay them to fix it. I'm starting to think this want a good decision to do..lol. atleast the things I'm putting into this puter I can hopefully take out and put in the new on in feb. Any sgguestion about the internet issue would be of help.

I'm not sure why it quit working now. Just guessing, but it sounds like you are having a network driver issue. Go to System then Device Manager, and see if any thing has a driver issue. This will show up as a somewhere in the list when you open Device Manager. If there is a driver issue; Go to Dell's website and download any drivers that you might need for that PC with XP. I thought 2000 and XP always used the same drivers, but I could be wrong and maybe you need some specifically for XP. Hopefully a fresh install on the new harddrive should fix any issues, just make sure you go to Dell's website and download any drivers that you might need for that PC when using XP.

Try this:
START > CONTROL PANEL
Double click on NETWORK CONNECTIONS
Right click on LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
Left click on PROPERTIES
Left click on INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP)
Left click on PROPERTIES
Make sure OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY is selected
Make sure OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY is selected
Click on the ALTERNATE CONFIGURATION tab
Make sure AUTOMATIC PRIVATE IP ADDRESS is selected
If you had to change any of these, select OK, then reboot
If those were ok, or if this still doesn't fix it, I can post the advance settings also... I'm on Comcrap too, so your settings should match mine...

Well I found out XP or the IT dept wiped the sound and network drivers. So I installed the network driver just to get internet, had to put it on a falsh drive at work. New HDD to be delivered 2day or 2morrow hopefully so I'm waiting on everything else. Ill have 1 500GB Sata HD, 1 40GB Sata HD and 1 40GB Pata HD. That should be enough. I think this network card is either slow or having issues so I'm gonna pick up a new ehternet card and sound card (for $ 20.....discount lol) on weds. My gosh almost everthingh will be new...lol Never installed a new HDD gonna give it a try though...lol
Ill try it Hitech when I put the new card in. I'm sure we both LOOOOOOVe comcast.....NOT

i would leave the 2 x 40Gb HD out of it , 500Gb will be enough for a few months , or you have to "borrow" a lot of movies like some people do (not calling names Ren) what's wrong with comcast , i love it Uploaded with ImageShack.us
