I have to replace the Kohler engine on my riding mower.
Something let loose on the inside and trashed the engine.
All hardware: muffler, air cleaner, ect... is still usable.
The sad part is that it only has 200 hours on it! :-@
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of any place that I could get one for a reasonable price.
The best I have found is about $1800. b02
If you have any ideas, it’s greatly appreciated.
Here’s my engine info:

From Kohler Engine Sticker:
Family: SKH725U1G2RB
Model #: CV725S
Spec #: 69540
725cc
Serial #: 3005521301

Replacement Engine info from Internet:
25HP KOHLER COMMAND CV730S EHP - REPLACEMENT ENGINE CV730-0016
Model: PACV730-0016
Replaces 69526, 69540, 69541, 69543, 69551

From Garden Tractor Owner’s Manual:
Craftsman, 26.0 hp, Electric Start, 50” Mower, Automatic, Garden Tractor
Tractor Model #: 917.273323
Engine Model #: CV26S (this is not the same as engine sticker, and I am not sure why??? I bought this tractor new!)
Engine Type: 69540
Kohler CV26-69540
Craftsman Engine Model #: 143961300 (From Sears website)

Thanks, Studdog

Stud, with only 200 hours check your warranty you should be good unless you bought it in some back ally.Good luck and check with your local lawn care supply company.

Woof Woof Hogie!
That's what I'm talking about! b08

Matt I agree that it should be a warranty job since that motor is suppose to go way past that.
Unfortunately the mower is 8 yrs old and the manufacturer thinks that is to old for warranty.
I say bull crud!
When a piston rod shatters on a motor with 200 hours, something was wrong with the rod.
I am in discussions with Kohler, but I'm not sure I will get much help.

Here are a few ideas:

LAFAYETTE WAREHOUSE INC
115 S 3RD ST
LAFAYETTE, IN 47902
(765)742-5065

LAFAYETTE MOWER REPAIR
720 S EARL AVE
LAFAYETTE, IN 47904
(765)448-9956

MC DOWELL'S POWER EQUIPMENT
1613 KOSSUTH STREET
LAFAYETTE, IN 47905
(765)742-5354

There is also an outfit called

Cassady's Equipment Care & Repair
9818 E. 800 S.
Lafayette, IN 47905
(765)296-4376

Not sure if they handle Kohler or not...

Also, you might try opening it up and seeing how damaged it is... Might be cheaper to rebuild, even if you have to get a new block... Might be able to bore it out and get oversized pistons... Many, many options...

This place is amazing. The parts I bought for my snowblower were 1/3 the cost of the local dealers. They have almost everything. http://www.m-and-d.com/

Get my mower runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes my way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Mow the world in a love embrace
Mow all of your grass at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Mow the world in a love embrace
Mow all of your grass at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
I was born, born to mow grass
I find no grass is too high
I never wanna die

Born to mow grass
Born to mow grass
