You will need to download Origin to play. http://www.origin.com/ie/about Once you install it log in using your EA account. You do not need to create a new account as I tried, and found my battlefield name was already taken :) I guess we will have to start adding friends again like steam.

Just pre-loaded and installed BF3 on the new hard drive. I'm ready to go. Hopefully Origin wont be like Steam and release the game late, letting us play at least around midnight if not right on time.
