I do like Cesar Millan the most. I should also recommend the books and videos by Kyra Sundance if you are into teaching your dog tricks. She has some great training techniques for teaching your dog tricks. Guys will probably want to buy the DVD’s. Kyra is a pretty gal that frequently wears miniskirts. Let’s just say that she squats down a lot and the camera man had to have been a man.

CG you also sound like a great owner! 8-) I will keep you in mind when the time comes and if I have any questions.

Haha I checked her out on youtube, she is pretty good, beautiful dogs.

Those are cool names for Chihuahuas. 8-)

We won't be doing any breeding.
After their first cycle we will get them fixed.

My wife always loved the Swiss Burnese Mountain Dog (Berner Sennenhund). She has wanted one for years. It’s what she originally wanted before she chose the Mastiff. Since she/we don’t want another long haired dog, she grudgingly decided she didn’t want the Swiss Burnese Mountain Dog. Yesterday I found a dog called the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (Grosser Schweizer Sennenhund). It’s in the same group as the Burmese Mountain Dog and has the same colors, but is short haired. I showed it to my wife and she was very excited. So when the time comes we may be getting a Rottweiler and a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. They look very similar in size, so should match up well.

Absolutely beautiful breed, I love the markings. I was reading about them and they do have less health issues with breeds the same size.

I found this picture of a puppy. So cute.

I remember you saying these will be Indoor dogs, well the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and Burnese Mountain dogs, they tend to be very active and dont like being left inside. It comes in the name of them, they are Mountain dogs. I run into that breed alot while Hiking and backcountry hiking the owners usually say the same thing, you cant keep these guys in very long, they are cold weather tolerant heat isnt great for them and I only ever see these dogs really happy is in the Mountains or Hills, my dog having Great Pyrenean Mountain dog in him he is very closely related to these two breeds. its the reason i got his breed for Outdoor hiking and climbing. Good luck on finding a dog, but dont be like my Aunt and Uncle allways changing their minds till it takes them forever to pick a breed lol

That is a very good point {uZa}Capt.CaNaDa. Luckily that is part of what my wife was looking for. My wife is constantly jogging, running, and hiking. Since I am as fit as a potato (actually in a downhill run, the potato would probably win.), my wife was wanting a dog that could go with her for protection and companionship. She regularly did this with our Pomeranians when we had them, but they are not much protection.

The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog wants to be constantly by the owner’s side. They have a strong desire to follow, and less desire to lead. Outside or inside only would leave them unbalanced. Our plan is to have a doggy door so the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and Rottweiler can both go in or out 24/7 into the big fenced in yard. We will also make sure to give them lots of long walks, but as noted above, I will only be involved with the short walks. Sometimes I go on the longer walks or runs, but I always get on my mountain bike for those. That way I can spend time with my wife and not worry about a heart attack. Both dogs will also be required to wear weighted back packs when going on hikes. If I could find a cart that would allow me to be pulled by the dogs, I would even do that some of the time. 8-) We also plan on teaching the dogs many tricks to keep their minds exercised.

As for changing minds, there really hasn’t been as much as you might think. I have always admired the Rottweiler. I have wanted a Rotty for a very very long time. That’s why it is in my avatar and sig. And my wife has always been interested in the same dogs; 1st Swiss Burnese Mountain Dog, 2nd Mastiff, 3rd the Newfoundland, and 4th the Pit Bull. Now she is excited to replace her number 1 choice (The Swiss Burnese Mountain Dog) with pretty much the same thing (The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog) but with a short coat. At this point our minds are pretty much set on these two choices. Now just need to get everything ready, then consider buying them. 8-)

I love Newfies, as a kid when we would visit Prince edward island my relative had a huge newfoundland dog(old stock from St.John) he lived to 17yrs old and was a big boy 170lbs most of his life. they are such Gentle dogs.

Great on your wife Jogging, that was what i was wondering most big dogs dont like to sit around to much, i take my dog on Long hikes weekly in the Mountains in the summer, usually they are 10-20miles if they are short, we will do up to 40mile hikes if we have the time those usually involve peak scrambling, where we head up about 12 thousand feet, higher if in bc.

That makes me exhausted just hearing it! One time I went to the top of a mountain in Tennessee with my wife, I had to stop every 15 feet just to stop from passing out. I am not exaggerating; I literally had to stop every 15 feet. My wife couldn’t quit laughing at me as I was continually being passed by overweight senior citizens. I never want to do that again for the rest of my life!
