Hey guys I've been trying to get around but my gaming desktop crashed and i haven't figured it out yet so you won't see my sniper for some time. I do still have my laptop and I see they are offering Windows 10 for free and I don't trust anyone elses comments and opinions on computer software more than uZa. So, How is it if anyone has tried it? is it worth the upload?

I cannot get it until the end of the month. I am not going to put it on my PC until I hear what it is like, I will probably put on on my laptop first to test it. Or better still, I'll put it on my mums

Windows 10, blah, just Windows 8 with a little polish of things from Windows 7. I am sticking with my Windows 7.
XP was the best. Windows 7 is a close second...

People also have had hit and miss getting COD2 to run on Windows 8. Some have been able to get it to work, others for the life of them and me have not been able to get it to work.
COD2 on Windows 10? Probably not, Windows 10 will probably not be much better at supporting COD2.

I have been using Windows 10 on a virtual computer for almost a year here and there to test things out. It started out great, then they started taking away more Windows 7 features/looks and incorporating Windows 8 looks. The Start menu has gone to the toilet again, give me a simple start menu like in xp and 7 and everything will be OK. Get rid of the phone/tablet touch features, I don't need that on my desktop, a simple start menu that is navigable without tons of scrolling is best.

I was just at a Microsoft store in Orlando today and the fellow i was speaking with said that there are still a lot of bugs and download issues right now and suggested to wait it out.

Windows what? HA!
COD2 was hit and miss with Windows 8. Not everyone was able to get COD2 to run on Windows 8. Trying it on Windows 10 is something very little if anyone has even tried yet.
Windows 10 is just more trash Microsoft has put out before it was ready to be put out any many problems in the corporate environment I have run into.
We have talked about Windows 10 on Saturday nights, and no one wants to touch it because some of the older games such as COD2 will probably not work.
It's all been downhill since Windows 8.
If all you have is Windows 10, I can try giving you a download to unzip COD2 into a folder and run it from there, but I highly doubt the normal install method for COD2 will work. Troubleshooting COD2 and Windows 8 was a nightmare and half the time we couldn't get it to work, so Windows 10 is probably not promising, but what the heck if someone wants to try it, be my guest!

I log in and play Cod UO now and again. I have heard people talk about Windows 10 some are using it and it seems to play that game fine, others hate it. I dont plan on using it, on any of my personal comps. But we do have it on the office pc at my work, not a fan really.

Alright guys so I installed windows 10 and had a struggle at first to get cod2 running but after looking into it, it was a very easy fix to get working so if anyone needs help I right clicked on cod2 multiplayer clicked run as administrator Than I right clicked again on it clicked on trouble shoot compatibility mode and ran the diagnostics test and it gives u options to pick what it used to run on and I selected windows xp sp3

That's a hit and miss... Some people could do that on Windows 8 and some people couldn't... Some people on Windows 8 had to jump through a number of settings and more, and some could get it to work and still some couldn't get it to work, and after a few hours of troubleshooting we all just gave up. Glad to see you got it working, but I think you just got lucky!

I can confirm I was able to help Violator get COD2 running on his Windows 10 PC last night.
If you need assistance, I can help and see if what worked for him works for you. We'll first download the game to your computer and unzip it, and then go from there and see how it sets up for you.
