Home renovations is good
tools, hardware and building materials
the last one being difficult for E-commerce unless you have a locally oriented warehouse to supply.

Cars not so good unless your offing accessories

Sex.........very easy to sell the A/V but not legal everywhere.
When selling via the internet you want to avoid the legal issues ;)

Gaming computer or console heavily saturated markets
70,700,000 competing pages
not good for starting out without a good page rank and no back links for support.

Things I search for on the internet??? Which day??? LOL...

COD(zombie) map making tips/tutorials/answers
Anything and everything to do with Industrail Automation and Machine Control
Auto repair forums for whatever vehicle I happen to be working on at the time
Electronic schematics for any idea or project that happens to pop into my head
Various formulas and equations that I use and have written down "somewhere"
A song that is stuck in my head, but I don't happen to own on tape or CD

I search for info on just about anything you can imagine, and many things you can't, usually at random...

Google is my friend...

As I said Commercially Viable Products
Hard sell products not Information.......
Information is free for the most part unless you are buying it in book form.
Once again books are impossible to compete with at 1,300,000,000 pages competing for it.

Well, the automation and control fits, as do the schematics... I am always looking for new drives, controllers, plc's, relays, contactors, etc... Gotta have specs before I consider purchase... And once I have a working schematic of something, I usually buy the components to make it... (expensive hobbies, cocain would be cheaper, but not quite as legal)

Almost anything I buy, from tools to appliances to parts, I do my research and shopping online... But I won't buy from a website that does not have the full specs and manuals available for their product available for free... I refuse to pay for my research, and I don't mind paying a slightly higher price when the company agrees with me on that...

Most products usually are sold as all inclusive regarding operating manuals.
Unless you are looking for a How to type which generally incurs an extra cost.
Otherwise the This or that for Dummies books would never sale.

As for tools it is on my list.

I have to assume that when you say "new drives, controllers, plc's, relays, contactors, etc...",your speaking in regards to a specific field of operation. Electrical Engineering ?

Which would be fine however the market for something like that would be more targeted towards a not so common agenda. That which most E-commerce is built around.

Thanx for the input though I'll try to run some of those through my marketing filters to see if they point me in other directions. :"

True, a lot of my research is centered around electrical engineering... It's what I do... :)

But even for something as simple as a cell phone or a table saw, if I cannot download and read through the owners or operators manual for free from a website, I won't be buying it from there... A lot of websites are set up kind of like BestBuy... They give you 3 or 4 specs on a shelf tag, and expect people to make a purchasing decision based on that (very) limited information... Fortunately for places like Best-Buy, most of their customer base really has no clue what they need or want, they just know how much they can spend... I tend to base my decisions more on what I want, then on what I need, with cost being the last consideration... If I can't afford what I want right now, I can wait untill I can... The only real exception to that is like when my mouse died... It was saturday evening, about 1 hour before our weekly COD2 matches were to begin, and I had $15 in my pocket... I went to walmart and bought a $10 mouse... Not what I wanted, but I had an immediate need and limited resources... I plan now to save up for a G9 or something better...

Anyhow, I wish you good luck and much prosperity with your endeavor... Marketing is one of the many "human relations" areas that I have always sucked in... ;)

BY the way Gr1mm, its great to see you back again!!!!

Right now I am looking for inexpensive cabinets, remodeling our bathroom, they are very hard to find. Along with plans, schematics, config tools, conversion tools, feet in to sq feet, and such.

Course with my job, police gear, there is a whole lot of gear that cops need. Guns, batons, cuffs, etc right down to the t-shirts and socks. Just an idea?!

Hey Hogan, I have looked at professional items not a lot of traffic. maybe if I specialize it. As for the cabinets checkout Baer Supply they carry affordable cabinets. If you go to your local hardware store they may carry a pocket reference with tons of conversion formulas for ya.

Hey Stud, I am currently researching all of your choices.
Moto's and Autos big ticket toys most people research online but buy at a
hard retailer. Can't find anyone willing to ship at wholesale for a directsale site.
Hell I would do that in a heart beat considering the mark up.
But then there is the credit issues.
I could look into maybe the accessoires end though. :)

Gaz, I must say I would highly recommend looking into something that is a consumable. This means return business. If you sell something that last several years or longer you more than likely will not see that online customer again unless they are buying something else. If you offer a consumable that is priced right and easy to order... you will see return customers AND new customers by way of referals. I'm not good with names for the website (i saw the other post), but I will be glad to help with design work and such. Check out Vistaprint.com to get some FREE, yes FREE, business cards printed. You can pay a little extra and get some custom stuff done too. Good luck and let me know if have any more questions, comments, or insults. LOL!
